In 1994 April 16th, Taipei
Awakening Association was established. From the most confident Taipei Awakening
magazine, using female resources to put down the foundation for women sport. With
the contribution of large amount of women and civilians, the magazine trained
woman leaders and help walk towards the ultimate goal for a Women Helping Women
world.
In 2008, Taiwan officially signed The Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women(CEDAW) with the united nations and at the same time in 2013 established the Gender Equality Division and the Gender Equality Committee putting women on a reliable and pivotal goal. This union hopes to help more female members grow starting from the foundation of equality.
In October of 1994, the association established the The First Women’s Political Participation Camp. Later on in the The Second Women’s Political Participation Camp, Jo Freeman, a famous women rights writer, was invited. At the The Night of Outstanding Women in Politics,she gave a speech about women righteous movements in the past. 200 plus women elite or government people were there, including Chen Yueh-ying , Lu Hsiu-lien , Hsu Jung-shu , Shih Chi-ching , Chu Feng- chi , Yeh Chu-lan , Li Ching-an , Chen Chu , Chang Fu-mei , Lan Mei-chin , Fan Hsun –lu , Chin Hui-chu , Chin Li-fang , Chen Yu-mei , Peng Wan-ju , Ku Yen-ling , Chen Wen- chien , Yang Tsu-chun and a lot more. All of these leaders, changed the women’s position and rights in the history of Taiwan.
The most recent women education camp is in the March of 2013, the Women Power Up!! 2013 Women’s Leadership Training invited the court special Hung Hsiu-chu and the first woman president participant Tsai Ying-wen , County Governor of Yunlin County Su Chih-fen ,former CLA Chairlady Wang Ju-hsuan,Legislators Yu Mei-nu, Hsiao Mei-chin, Pan Wei- kang et al and a lot more women elite. With hundreds of women leaders’ discussion and training, six main categories of abilities are established. This includes Leadership, Conducting Meetings, Organization Management, Publicity and Marketing, Crisis Management, Resource Connection. With over 140 female members willing to be instructed, we hope elite female of different careers can contribute together to build a new Taipei era.
